OY HACKLIN HAMIKO LTD Pajamäentie 3
Oy Hacklin Hamiko Ltd stores environmentally hazardous chemicals. The facility is required to conduct a safety assessment and has received permission from Tukes to handle hazardous chemicals on a large scale. The products are brought to the warehouse in containers and leave the warehouse in enclosed trucks. The products are not processed, nor are the packages opened during storage. The stored products are not oxidizing, highly flammable, ignitable, or explosive.
Possible Hazardous Situations:
The stored products are highly toxic to aquatic life and have long-term adverse effects. The hazard classifications of the substances are: Aquatic Acute 1 (H400), Aquatic Chronic 1 (H410), and Aquatic Chronic 2 (H411).
A major chemical spill during container unloading, truck loading, or storage can pose an accident risk, where products may end up in sewers or the environment. Toxic smoke gases produced as a result of a fire at the warehouse can spread to the port and nearby areas, and firefighting wastewater can also enter the environment.
Accident risks are managed through continuous training and drills for staff, cooperation with authorities, and careful monitoring of operations, which includes weekly safety rounds and testing of safety equipment.
The Kymenlaakso Rescue Department has published a safety notice for residents of the Hamina area in case of a major accident, and in the event of an accident, actions will be taken according to this guideline.
The warehouse is inspected by Tukes according to the following guidelines:
